Auto-formatted Citations in Library Resources

When using library resources, many database providers offer you tools that automatically create pre-formatted citations. If you can't find the citation, you can always Ask a Librarian.

Step 1: Click on the item you want to cite.

Step 2: Look for a button that says "cite" or an icon that looks something like the below to find the pre-formatted citation (exact wording and appearance will vary from system to system):

Icon showing two sets of quotation marks.

Step 3: Select your citation style and copy and paste the pre-formatted citation in your paper!

Note: These automatic tools are not error-proof. You are responsible for the final product. Always double check automatically generated citations and references for correct formatting (capitalization, punctuation, placement of elements, etc.).
